Holy mother of God! Where did summer go? I swear it was June last week. Oh well. It has been a really long time since I updated last, so here's a real quick overview.

Job: Like it, settling in nicely and my boss just loves me. Yay! I've been given three big projects, one is completely finished, one is at a standstill until my boss finishes her part of the new software and the other is about halfway done.

Home: New place is great, although I lost power this morning and couldn't open the fuse box. Good news though, the whole building went out, so it didn't matter that I couldn't open the fuse box. Had to shower in the dark, but I had hot water.

KP: He's going great and now has THREE days off vs. only one like last year, so woot! However, I think he's bored, so I'm trying to think of a hobby he can do at night. Apparently, brewing beer isn't enough. (I bought him a home brewing kit for Christmas, which he still hasn't used...grrr).

RPG: All games are doing great and I'll do some pimping soon. We've had some big threads in [profile] post_bellum which have been sweet. I have all 14 of my characters active 3 to 4 threads a month, plus [profile] do_bad_things should be starting soon, I'm playing Sookie. Fun fun

NaNo: Did some plotting for NaNo this year. I'm writing the sequel to my 2007 NaNo entitled Buts Words can Never Die, which is a young adult Nancy Drew Style mystery. I'm hoping to publish it someday and have a few friends reading the 3rd draft of it as we speak. The new NaNo takes place over the summer and will be call Camp Dead End and will involve smuggling...I'm thinking drugs, but I'm not sure. I do know there will be camp rivalry, kidnapping and good looking lifeguards. The main character is only 15.

Weight: Down 13...want to drop 7 more before end of year which is part of my 101

Rhodora We are producing Agnes of God in the fall. Auditions soon...need to find space and confirm with director his schedule. I may just pick dates without him just to get things moving. I'm working on this over the weekend.

Future: I've talked with a few friends and done basic (I mean, I've look online at two schools) about grad school for creative writing. My facebook wife, Connie, is in a graduate program at John Hopkins and it's only 9 course, including thesis and she should have it complete next summer. So, I've been saving and thinking about applying or looking into the GREs. This morning I came across an article from The Chronicle of Higher Education which is a university industry paper that my company subscribes to. I thought it was really interesting and I've decided to share it. It's under the cut bc it's long and I blatantly stole it bc I'm not sure how to share it without making anyone interested in reading, sign up for a subscription. It's good and I suggest you read it.

Anyways, that's my life up until now. I'll try to update more often.

Kisses!

I need a to do list for life.  I mean, right now I'm not sure where I am or where I'm going, so I need a list.

1. Find better paying and full time job
2. Put more savings
3. Edit NaNo07
4. Finish another novel
5. Pay rent
6. Get Kp something for V-Day

Seems like a good start, but these are just short term goals.  For the long term I really would like to start some kind of career or something.  Job security and insurance sure would be nice.

Oh well, doing a million things today, so i should get on to it...

So now that NaNo is over, I have a whole lot of free time...time that I really don't know what to do with. I mean, like today I was at my job, but tomorrow I have all day to do whatever.

I know I should look from another job, but the non-profit just got a grant and it was more than we were participating.  Way exciting.

So now I'm just chilling at home after decorating my mini-Christmas tree and hung my stockings.

Last year, I made KP and me buy stockings because we didn't have any.  I bought him a Yoda stocking that talks...it's pretty cool.  I bought a Tinkerbell Stocking..it's green ans sparklely and those who know me...it's prefect.

Drinking wine and watching Bones with CD, which I've never seen, but pretty cool...the main character, played by Erin Deschel, is a total nerd and I love her.

Well, more wine to drink and more Bones to see.

Kisses...

So over the break, I took a day or two off to bake pies and miss my family and go out for dinner at my ex-boss' house.  As a result of my little break, I've spent the last three days writing twice as many words to catch up and I am today.

In fact I have 8500 more words until the end!!!!

HAPPY DANCE

I've always been proud of the fact that I've tried every year to make it and this is the first year that I'm going to do it. NaNo is awesome and I'm kicking its ass!

Wishing all of you a great post Turkey or Tofurky day and great holidays in the month to come.

The things I'm thankful for are kp, my roomie cd, my mom, books, NaNo and life.

You're 55% Irish

You're very Irish, and most likely from Ireland.
(And if you're not, you should be!)

Your Irish Name Is...

Michaela O'Kelly
What's your Irish Name?

You Are Miss Piggy

A total princess and diva, you're totally in charge - even if people don't know it.
You want to be loved, adored, and worshiped. And you won't settle for anything less.
You're going to be a total star, and you won't let any of the "little people" get in your way.
Just remember, piggy, never eat more than you can lift!
The Muppet Personality Test

Ok, so I cheated on the last one, but who doesn't love Miss Piggy, she's always been a big woman and she still looks hot...for a puppet.

Well I should be off...

NaNo is going well and I'm over 50...pages which is pretty cool.

cd...is great and kicked butt in NaNo the other day and if i didn't say it already, she baked a great looking pie.

job...my part time job has just given me some more responsibility which rocks and maybe it will become a full time job and i won't have to find another one

NaNo...Hallie has just found out that she's being blacklisted and that the other writers are at risk. and for word count...17,644 as of yesterday.

Well better get writing...

So it's the fourth day of NaNo, and I'm kicking butt.  I'm been ahead of the minimum word count every day so far, but then again it's still early.

I'm into Chapter 3 of the book and Hallie has found the discrepancy and is looking into another possible paper switch.

Will curiosity kill the cat or will Hallie's Nancy Drew instincts kick in?

You'll have to wait and see.

BTW: Tonight is my last night at work and anyone stopping by , please DO NOT say anything...I don't want to disrupt the normalcy of the regulars.

Everyone keep on typing/writing/imagining only 26 more days!

Thank God it's halloween!

It just means that there are less then 12 hours until NaNo. I've been so pumped for NaNo this year.  I have a great story that I planned and started in one day about a month ago.

So, just to give some background on NaNo...This is my 4th year and I have yet to reach my 50,000 word goal, although I can very close last year with 37, 000 words.  I started NaNo after a friend made me sign up and I had such a good time writing and planning...that story needs some editing and the last few chapters until it's finished.

Anywho, this year marks a new approach to NaNo...I'm writing young Adult...a new genre for me, but I'm very excited.  So Hallie Sanders, the main man, is a sophomore at a private Catholic high school in Maine.  She is part of the creative writing competition team when she discovers that someone has stolen her story.  The mystery starts there.  First she has to find out who is stealing her stories as well as who is benefiting from her words.

It has the elements of a Nancy Drew mystery without the supernatural or myth basis.  Growing up there were very few young adult mystery writers.  Joan Lowery Nixon is the only one I remember.  From her I moved on to the Queen of Suspense, Mary Higgins Clark and eventually Sue Grafton, Janet Evanovich and Patricia Cornwell.  While I love mysteries and suspense, I wished there were more young adult versions.   My reading level has always been way ahead of my grade, but reading descriptive passages on corpses and decomposition at the age of 12 or 13, it can't necessarily be a good thing.

I guess, I want to write something that bridges between adulthood and childhood.  Something middle schoolers would want to read.

So I'm waiting for bedtime to get up early and write as much as possible.  I already have the first paragraph written in my head...that's not cheating, is it?

Hello to the two friends i have and anyone else really that interested in me

So, I've finally sold my soul to LJ. Mainly because of NaNo and those who don't know what NaNo is, check out www.nanowrimo.org.

I'm writing a young adult mystery novel in November and my two friends have kept me updated on all things NaNo, being the wonderfully social writers/people they are. So i've joined to writing anything and everything as well as keep up with the DC NaNo-ers.

So today, i'm writing my first post. So far I've already done two loads of laundry, baked Apple Crisp, cleaned the living room, kitchen and bedroom and washed three loads of dishes...been a busy morning.

Now I'm listening to some Notting Hill and waiting for the washer to finish so I can be done with laundry.

Just for some basic info about me...

I have several tattoos, six at the current, and will probably get some more.  I love each and everyone, especially the ones that I share with my friends.  Although my mermaid is pretty damn hot, so she's my current favorite, but it changes every week or so.

I'm a writer at heart.  I'm completely addicted to the written word, despite my awful spelling an d comma usage, which is a little strange considering i'm slightly OCD about everything else.  All my CDs are alphabetized by album name and my dvds are in order based on genre and then alphabetized.

I know I'm a freak.

Living with a wonderful man, KP, who could totally go on the Next Iron Chef and kick ass, as well as a dear close friend, CD.

Working as a part time administrative assistant and full time waitress until Nov. 4, when i will be leaving the waitress job to be unemployed for the moment.

Life has thrown me a few curve balls and so I'm changing my life to accommodate.

So who knows what is to come...

Hopefully only good things.

That's all i gotta say for now. So i'm keep you all updated on the job hunt and Hallie (That's my main character) and who knows what else.

Kisses
